FL-24: Kosmas Crushing Feeney in New Poll

Greenberg Quinlan Rosner for the DCCC (10/14-15, likely voters):

Suzanne Kosmas (D): 58

Tom Feeney (R-inc): 35

(MoE: ±4.9%)

You got that? These numbers are almost too good to be true. Feeney’s personal favorable rating is nearly at Tim Mahoney-like levels: 28-51. Kosmas is still far less well-known, with only a 37-11 rating.

If this poll is anywhere close to accurate, Feeney is screwed. The ball is now in his court (and the NRCC’s) to give us numbers that say otherwise.

  1. I am not sure I buy the margins, but everyone seems to suggest that the so-called “Reaganest Republican” is finished.  I read a GOP stratrgist quoted in the Southern Political Report yesterday say Feeney was a goner.

On that note, why hasn’t the DCCC waded into FL-08 yet?  This district is extremely winnable.  I thing Grayson is ahead already.  I am very surprised the d-trip hasn’t dropped anything here yet, even though Grayson was not the preferred candidate in the primary field.  And yes, he is a self-funder but we should still work to ensure the outcome.

  2. My rule of thumb is subtract 5 from the Dem and add 5 to the Pub on any DCCC poll (and vice versa for NRCC polls).  Even if you discount the margin quite a bit, this is still a really solid lead.

  3. we’re trading Tom Rooney and Suzanne Kosmas for Tom Feeney and Tim Mahoney.

Seems like a very net positive to me. Feeney is abominable, and at least Rooney is new blood (probably crazy new blood, but new nonetheless).

  4. I wish these companies would let us know how the Prez. horserace is shaping out in more of these congressional polls of swing districts. That can be a bellwether for which direction a particular swing State will go for Prez.

  5. Feeney down 23?  I don’t buy a margin that big, but things are looking VERY good for Suzanne Kosmas.  Hopefully SUSA or R2K for Kos will run an independent poll for verification.

I’m also curious to see how Obama is doing in my district.  If he’s within a couple points he should win Florida handily.

  6. Feeney schemed to put Bush in as head of the Republicans in the FL state Senate.  Now Bush’s accumukated disaters help to Bush him out along with Mr. 43.
